Meet Our Fall 2024 Scholarship Recipients

We are proud to introduce the students that receive Marie Robbins Scholarships for Fall 2024.

Ali Hamoudeh

As a student pursuing my diploma in Social Service Work (SSW), this scholarship is not only a significant financial support but also an affirmation of my commitment to helping others. The financial assistance provided by the Marie Robbins Scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies and reduce the stress that comes with tuition costs and other educational expenses. This support is crucial, as it will enable me to dedicate more time to excelling in my coursework, participating in hands-on field placement experiences, and becoming a more effective future social service worker.

Receiving this scholarship is especially important to me because it validates my passion for social service work and strengthens my resolve to contribute meaningfully to my community. Throughout my studies, I have become increasingly committed to supporting vulnerable populations, advocating for those whose voices are often overlooked, and working toward creating a more just and equitable society. This scholarship will help me gain the knowledge, skills, and experience I need to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families who face challenges such as poverty, mental health issues, and systemic injustice.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and support. Your investment in my education will have a lasting impact, and I promise to work hard to make the most of this opportunity. I am deeply grateful for your commitment to supporting students like myself who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.

Ahmed Al-Mamoori

Growing up in Baghdad, I attended Baghdad College High School, a prestigious institution known for its rigorous academic environment. This background fueled my passion for engineering, inspired by my father, an engineer and construction manager back in Iraq. My family immigrated to Canada three years ago in pursuit of a better life for us my father starts working as a construction labor, and this scholarship is a significant step towards realizing my dream to be working with him together as engineers.

With your support, I can focus more on my studies and engage in the hands-on experiences so essential to my field. This scholarship not only alleviates financial pressure but also motivates me to excel and honor the trust you’ve placed in me. I aim to become a professional engineer, contributing to innovative projects that positively impact society.

Thank you once again for your incredible generosity. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and aspire to give back to the community , helping others achieve their dreams just as you have helped me.

Marin Colebrooke

My name is Marvin Colebrooke and I am in my second year of the Graphic Design program at Mohawk College. I would like to take this opportunity to formally thank you for selecting me as the recipient of the Marie Robbins Scholarship.

Being awarded this scholarship has a ected me in so many wonderful ways. Firstly, it is the honor I feel for being selected out of a wide pool of applicants, knowing how hard it is to be recognised for such a benefit. Secondly, the monetary assistance will help to reduce the f inancial stress that comes with being a full-time student. Your generosity has given me an additional boost of confidence and the means to continue to strive for success in my endeavor of achieving a higher education.

As a result of receiving this scholarship, I can continue to pursue academic excellence in my Graphic Design program. My desire is that upon completion of this program in 2026, I will be able to pay it forward and help other students achieve their educational dreams. Thank you again Marie Robbins Scholarship Fund committee.
